2019-20 CHANGES TO PLAYER REGISTRATION

The board spent months researching how other associations are running the registration and payment process and made these changes to be more in line with other programs across the state.

This year, WBLAHA is will collect from each player a Registration Fee, Base Fee and a Level Fee through Sports Engine at the time of registration. Additional team fees may be collected by the team managers, but they will be greatly reduced from previous years. See 2019-2020 WBLAHA REGISTRATION INFO for detailed information.

A significant amount of work went into determining the appropriate amount of fees to collect by level, which included consideration of the following:

  •  The amount of fees collected by team for the 2018-2019 season
  • The budgeted expenses for the 2019-2020 season, which are expected to be covered by team fees
  • Discussions with several team managers and coaches
  • Review of team fees charged by other area Hockey Associations

Reasons for the change:

  • Reduce the administrative burden on both the team managers and the Treasurer.
  • Comply with the recommendations of our audit firm, to reduce financial risk of the Association.
  • More closely align the WBLAHA's processes with other area Hockey Associations.
  • Allow proceeds from Gambling to be used to pay down debt to the City, related to the WBSC rink remodel.

We know this is a significant change for some, so we highly recommend members with questions attend the August 14th or September 11th Board Meetings held at the WBL City Hall at 7:00 pm.

Thank you for your flexibility and support!
